Orange Liberia Teams Up with PCC and EPA to Remove 10 Metric Tons of Waste for World Environment Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - June 5, 2026

In a powerful demonstration of our commitment to the environment, Orange Foundation Liberia and Orange Liberia spearheaded a coastal cleanup campaign in commemoration of World Environment Day. The coordinated effort successfully cleared a staggering 10 metric tons (10,000 kg) of plastic trash and debris from the local shoreline. The operation benefited three vital areas: ELWA Beach, King Gray Beach, and Bamboo Beach.

To turn the tide (Pun Intended) against coastal pollution, Orange Foundation Liberia joined forces with key institutional Stakeholders, collaborating directly with the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia and PLASTAKES SANITATION. The initiative brought together employees, environmental advocates, and community members to protect the Liberia's marine ecosystems.

The success of the cleanup rested on incredible employees of Orange Liberia, EPA, PCC and PLASTAKES, who volunteered. A dedicated force of 102 volunteers stepped forward to dedicate their time and energy to the cause. To improve our output and ensure thorough coverage across all three targeted beaches, the volunteers were divided into 8 groups.

Equipped with gloves, rakes, and collection bags, the teams combed the sand to retrieve and sort discarded plastics and recyclable materials.
