Sierra Leone ICT Talent Development Program Launches Maiden Edition
The Ministry of Communications, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI), in collaboration with Huawei and the Orange Sierra Leone, successfully launched the first edition of the Sierra Leone ICT Talent Development Program. This initiative aimed to empower recent university graduates with critical digital skills to bridge the digital divide in Sierra Leone.
The program targeted 50 unemployed youth, offering them a fully-funded, intensive one-week training program at the Limkokwing University in Freetown. Led by Huawei experts, the training curriculum focused on equipping participants with expertise in areas like Cyber Security and Digital Marketing.
Following the intensive training, a select group of outstanding graduates will be deployed across eight districts in Sierra Leone. Their mission? To train secondary school students and local traders, fostering a more digitally-literate population.
This program offered valuable incentives to participants, details of which were discussed during the final selection process.
While the application window for the inaugural program has closed, the initiative serves as a significant step towards building a robust digital workforce in Sierra Leone. Stay tuned for updates on future editions of the program!
