Supercoders

On the occasion of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) that happens every year, the "SuperCoders" workshop, held in collaboration with UNICEF, engages kids in activities focused on climate change awareness and sustainable development. Through interactive sessions, participants are encouraged to create animations and games related to these themes. The workshop provides a platform for children to showcase their projects and receive participation certificates. Aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, the program aims to inspire young minds to devise innovative solutions to environmental challenges using technology, fostering both learning and creativity in the process.

What does the Supercoders program offer?

• Awareness Session on Climate Change and SDGs:This session serves as an introduction to some of the most pressing global challenges facing our planet. Children are educated about the concept of climate change, its causes, and its wide-ranging impacts on the environment, society, and the economy. Through interactive discussions, multimedia presentations, and engaging activities, they learn about the importance of taking action to address climate change and achieve sustainability. Moreover, the session delves into the 17 SDGs, each of which represents a critical aspect of sustainable development—from ending poverty and hunger to promoting clean energy and responsible consumption. By familiarizing children with these goals, the program cultivates a sense of global citizenship and instills the values of empathy, compassion, and environmental stewardship.

• Programming Training: In parallel with the awareness session, children receive hands-on training in programming and computer science. Through age-appropriate coding exercises, projects, and challenges, they learn fundamental concepts of coding languages. By acquiring coding skills, children not only gain proficiency in a valuable 21st-century skill but also develop problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and creativity. Moreover, they explore how technology can be harnessed as a tool for addressing real-world issues, including those related to climate change and sustainable development. From developing interactive simulations to designing environmental monitoring apps, children are encouraged to use their coding skills to make a positive impact on their communities and the world at large.
