Super Coders Celebrate World Environment Day with Practical Learningsamedi, 7 juin 2025
On Saturday, June 7, the Orange Digital Center in Congo Town hosted a hands-on learning event for over 40 children and volunteers as part of its Super Coders program in observance of World Environment Day. The event focused on environmental awareness through basic technology and creative reuse of household plastic waste.
Participants were divided into two practical sessions:
Code for the Planet – Children in this track were introduced to simple coding concepts. They used tools like Scratch to create basic digital projects that reflected environmental themes. For many, it was their first exposure to how coding can be used to solve real-world problems.

Make Your Own Toy from Recycled Waste – In this session, kids used discarded plastic bottles, caps, and other household items to build their own toys. The activity helped them understand the value of reuse and waste reduction in a direct and engaging way.

Volunteers supported each activity and helped facilitate a smooth experience. While ODC provided light refreshments, parents played a key role by ensuring the children arrived prepared with the recommended materials.
Why It Matters
The Super Coders program is part of Orange Digital Center’s commitment to giving young people the skills they need to grow, create, and lead. This Super Coders edition was designed to show that environmental education doesn’t need to be complex to be effective. Through basic skills training and hands-on exercises, children were introduced to ways they can contribute to sustainability—starting at home.
By integrating social and environmental impact into its training and events, ODC continues to nurture a new generation of tech-driven leaders and problem-solvers.As the world commemorated World Environment Day, the children at ODC didn’t just celebrate—they created, they learned, and they inspired.
