25th Anniversary Donation Drivelundi, 22 avril 2024
Botswana Gender Based Violence and Orange Botswana have joined hands to raise awareness and call for action to end violence against women and girls in Botswana. The campaign has proclaimed the 25th of each month as “Orange Day”, a day to raise awareness and act to end violence against women and children.
BGBVC is currently housing survivors of GBV who have fled their homes seeking safety in various parts of the country. Often, these victims arrive at the centers with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
As we continue to celebrate 25 years of Orange Botswana, and given our relationship to the official color of this campaign, we are running a staff donation drive at each of our worksites every month, dedicating each month to different needs of the survivors in the shelter.
This donation drive is a staff-led initiative; an opportunity for us, the people of Orange Botswana to make an impact in the lives of these victims, and contribute positively to their survival stories. On the 25th of every month Orange staff is encouraged to wear Orange colors to give visibility to this initiative, and all the donations made during the course of that month are handed to BGBVC to distribute to different shelters.
Orange Foundation has extended this initiative by opening an Orange Money account. The account will serve the purpose of collecting funds that we be donated to BGBVC. The donation will help to transform the livelihoods of survivors of sexual and domestic violence sheltered at BGBV Prevention and Support Centre.
